Lulu Street Racers Annual Soap Box Derby

The Lulu Street Racers will hold their 4th annual Soap Box Derby on October 29, 2011 on Third Street in historic downtown Leesville. There is a $10 entry fee for the event, which is sponsored by VFW Post 3106, Billy's Barber Shop, and Senator John Smith. Spectators are welcome with no cost for admission.

There will be two categories for ages 9-11, 12-14, and 15-17 -- Nationally Approved Racers and Lulu Street Racers. Prizes will be presented for bracket winners, sportsmanship, original body design, workmanship, paint/decals, and the Grand Champion. Approved racer plans are available on their Facebook page, or you can pick up a hard copy at Lowe's or Billy's Barber Shop.

Check in and inspection will begin at 8:00 am on October 29th, with an opportunity to practice or run time trials until the races begin at 10:30 am.

1st Annual Leesville Cars, Trucks, and Motorcycles Show

The City of Leesville, Louisiana will present its First Annual Cars, Trucks, and Motorcycle Show in conjunction with the Annual Lulu Street Racers Soap Box Derby in historic downtown Leesville. The show will begin at 8:30 am and continue until 2:00 pm.

Trophies will be awarded in the following categories:

Cars & Trucks Best of Show Ladies Choice Pre-War - 1942 1946-1950 1951-1960 1961-1970 1971-1980 1981-1990 1991-2000 2001-2010

Motorcycles Best of Show Top #1 Top #2 Top #3

The show is being sponsored by Alford Motors, Inc. of Leesville and all proceeds will go to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). Checks should be made out directly to them and mailed to Harry McCloud, 148 McCloud Rd., Leesville, LA 71446. Registration fees are $10 prior to October 15 and $15 after that.
